Honor Jazz: Saturday, 2.4.2017
A big shout-out to Jeremy Martin, who is representing Aspen Middle School at Jazz Aspen Snowmass’s Honor Jazz Festival in Carbondale. The concert is free and at 6PM Saturday, 2.4.2017 at RFHS.
Beginning today, students will receive a weekly SmartMusic assignment! Students will have one week to work on and turn in each assignment, and late work will be accepted for reduced score until the end of the quarter. If you are having issues with SmartMusic, please get in touch with us or with SmartMusic support. (We use “SmartMusic Classic” in our program)
We want to get the Wednesday Jazz club back up and running, but we need commitment from students and parents to attend before we pay an instructor to run the club! So, please have your student put their name on the sign-up sheet on the band room door. If we get enough students, the club is back in action! All students on any instrument in any grade wanting to learn jazz are welcome!
CU Honor Band
Congratulations to Kara, Jeremy, and Leah for making it to the CU Honor Band! This is the first time AMS has ever had students make it in! Be sure to follow our Instagram @aspenbands to keep up with their experience!
The AMS & AHS Bands will be playing Empty Bowls this year! Starting at around 6PM on March 1st, our AMS Jazz Band, the AHS Rock Band, and the AHS Jazz Combo will be entertaining the crowd. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the event.
AHS Musical: Pippin
This year, we have a record number of students performing in the musical pit for Pippin. Rehearsals will be on Fridays from 3:30-5 (or later as needed).
Congratulations to Lauren Anuszewski for making it to Colorado’s All-State Band for the second year in a row!
