Tomorrow evening at 5 pm in the Edlis Neeson Hall on the Aspen Music Festival and Country Day School campus we will be holding a free showcase featuring Double Black Band and IB Music students.  They will be performing a variety of solos and ensembles that they have prepared this semester during class for the community.  Stop by and hear some of the fantastic work that students are doing with their instruments and peers!

AMS Jazz Band at FIS World Cup

When students performed last week at the Empty Bowls event at Bumps restaurant on Buttermilk, their performance was noticed and they have been invited to perform at the opening of the World Cup competition in Aspen next week.  Jazz parents, please expect an email with details.

End of Quarter and SmartMusic Grades

As a reminder, the end of the quarter is Friday, March 24 and that means that all Smartmusic homework is due by then.  These assignments have been given throughout this quarter to all grades.  They are assigned a week before they are due, but there is no penalty for late work up until the end of the quarter, when the grades will be zeroed out and finalized.  Please check with your student to make sure that they have been completing these assignments, we remind them daily to keep up on their homework.

Region Band Auditions DUE SATURDAY!

Students interested in auditioning for region band, which is highly encouraged, need to have recordings submitted to Mr. Heldt or Kyle by Saturday for final submission to the judges.  7th and 8th grade students are required to submit an audition.  Need an app for that?  Check out Recorder Plus HD in the App Store/Google Play.

Wednesday Afternoon Jazz

Beginning after spring break, we will be hosting Wednesday’s afternoon jazz band once again for students interested in getting into the jazz world.  5th and 6th grade students are especially encouraged to take advantage of this incredible opportunity to work with JAS representatives on different styles of music with other motivated music students.

Pippin Musical at AHS

Next week Aspen High School will premier the spring musical Pippin.  Many band students are featured in the pit orchestra for the show and is the culmination of months of work for many.  Showtimes are Thursday through Saturday at 7 pm and a matinee performance at 2 pm on Sunday.  Tickets are available online or at the door.
